I've made several slab pieces, particularly the slab boxes. I really enjoy the process of both the slab work and the carving.

As it seems I do tons more pottery than anything else, this blog will be solely dedicated to my work in this area. I will try to take pics of those things I still have around home, but I don't really have a spot for good digital pictures. I probably have close to 200 pieces just around my house, many in boxes simply because I have no where to put them. I hope you enjoy viewing them.

Hi my name is Clare and i was wondering how you made your slab pot with the door on it. I was wondering if you used wire onthe door and did you put the door on before or after you fired it
Hi, Clare. I did use wire on the door after both pieces were glazed and fired. Although they do make a wire that will withstand the temperature of the kiln, if I tried to wire the door on before firing the glaze would melt the two pieces together and it would be permanently fixed - open or shut depending on how it was when firing.
Each of the boxes with lids also open and close using wire.
